David was born in Salt Lake City in 1957. He is married to Rachelle and has six adult children and 5 (soon to be 6) grandchildren. They raised their family in New Hampshire, Utah, Minnesota, and London, and now live in Northern Virginia.

As a young man, he served a mission in Southern Japan and claims that although his Japanese is pretty bad, he loved his mission and still loves everything Japanese. David earned a Bachelor of University Studies in Quantitative Methods from the University of Utah and a Masters of Business Administration from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. He retired in 2012 from a career centered in executive management of bioinformatics and evidence-based medicine businesses.

While living in New Hampshire, David served as a bishop and stake president. After retirement, together with his wife he served as mission president in the Freetown Sierra Leone Mission in West Africa. They were released during the Ebola epidemic which ravaged West Africa. They have also served as Director of the Hill Cumorah Visitor Center and Historic Sites in Palmyra New York.

David is the Author of "Bridges: Ministering to Those Who Question"

From the Introduction:

"If you are a believer, I hope that reading this book will help you build your bridge with better understanding as you minister to those who doubt. If you consider yourself a doubter or nonbeliever, I pray that reading this book will give you hope that we are trying to be more understanding and that your relationships with family members, friends, and Church members can be strong and rich, even with differences in belief."
